What you don't seem to understand is that religion is not just for setting moral guidelines and instruction, but an absolute requirement for unity and success in any culture. A culture cannot be successful without sound religion, and you immediately notice this, as historically every culture that lost respect to its founding religion soon died after. Not all religions are good, but good religions are necessary for good culture.
